In 2001, Russell & Beryl Adams decided that Smythesdale could do with a supermarket. A demographic survey confirmed this, so in 2002 they purchased the property at 40 Brooke St, Smythesdale, together with the adjoining block to be used for deliveries.

The building had previously been a restaurant and had been vacant for about 3 years.

This building was gutted, the block cleaned up, and finally in June 2003 the supermarket was opened for business. The product range chosen was the same as for the Skipton store. This proved to be a good base and over the years the product range has changed to suit the younger population.

This business venture has proven to be a great success. The store was initially run by 7 part-time staff but it has been necessary to increase this to 14 part-time staff members.
